I’ve never had a problem with sleep
It always comes so easy for me
But then one day I ran into a smile that tore my heart in two
And now my sleep is more like a wait to see her
I’m tryin’ hard to count all the sheep
I count them one by one as they leap
but I lose track at one or two, as lady comes a walkin’ through
she smiles at me and then I awake.
Lady with the smile I love, smile away.
I don’t care if it keeps me up, wide awake
Lady that I’m dreaming of, give me a taste
Lately I’ve been thinking there’s no escape
Don’t mean to make you out like a queen
but I can’t forget the things that I’ve seen
I know there’s so much more to this, Its growing right inside your kiss
I’ll be there with my lips when it blooms
Lady, with the smile I love, smile away.
I don’t care if it keeps me up, wide awake
Lady that I’m dreaming of, give me a taste
Lately I’ve been thinking there’s no escape
I hope these words affect you, Lady
Just read my lips, I read yours already
I need it right now your effects are spreading
The way they talk whenever you laugh
I’d smile at you to see you smile back
The sweet tooth for your lips, my dear, has made me lose my grip, I fear
‘cause otherwise, I’d hold you tight and kiss you, honey

Body and Soul
I’ve been tied up before—my hands behind my back
Been locked behind closed doors. So sad, but it’s a fact
But nothing yet has made me wanna scream so loud the windows crack
So the moment you open your mouth,
I’m gonna kiss you; body and soul
Body and soul, I’m gonna kiss you, make you my own
Though I don’t know what’s come over me
And I can’t say what the hand will be
Suddenly comes this thief on the rise—
A smooth pickpocket with an eye on the prize
So the moment you close your eyes,
I’m gonna steal you, body and soul
Body and soul, Body and soul, I’m gonna steal you
from right under your sweet little nose
Body and soul..
I hope this makes it down into the deepest secret workings of your heart
That’s where I’ll start
So the moment your heart stops its lies,
You’re gonna find that I make you whole
Body and soul. Body and soul.

Now that summer ran away with all the fancy free,
I think how much more unfortunate could one boy be
though July's perfume still lingers on my shoulder.
And in dreams I talk about the way life usually goes
being trapped inside a box without a door or windows.
The call of the wild inside is getting bolder.
Something starts to call me at the time leaves start turning.
Chilly thoughts keep creeping in to set my gears a turning
I know Winter's coming, mama, nights are getting cold
come December I'll be craving August heat
So at this time it is my sole desire to have her here to hold.
I can't remember one September quite so sweet.
There was a time when I was a boy
when all that I wanted for Christmas was a brand new toy.
There are times like these I wish that I were younger.
Because lately I find that I'm in a bind,
Some other sugar plum fairy story weighing on my mind—
No-- the sweetest dream won't satisfy my hunger.
something starts to call me at the time leaves start burning,
chilly butterflies—how they flutter by and keep my stomach churning
I know Winter's coming, mama, nights are getting cold
come December I'll be craving August heat
So at this time it is my sole desire to have her here to hold.
I can't remember one September quite so sweet.
I know that I'm walking on the right side of the road
cars are flying days go by and I still breathe
And I'm finding that my soul is wired to rise up with the bold;
to start embracing hearts worth making memories.
I know Winter's coming, mama, nights are getting cold
come December I'll be craving August heat
So at this time it is my sole desire to have her here to hold.
I can't remember one September quite so sweet.

Hey busy bee, every little bitty thing been vexing you?
Hey busy bee, you think that itty bitty sting’s protecting you? no
Just take a breather fuss makes you either
Impossible, irascible, bossy, and impassible
It’s time we talked just you and I
Hey busy bee, it’s been too long since you stopped to smell the pretty roses
You busy bee, you work too hard, go on and drop those chores your heart opposes
Bee in your bonnet? I’ll write a sonnet to keep you alive or just revive the happiness of which you are deprived
‘cause don’t you know that you’re the one that I adore?
And every time you cry, I only love you more
Though every day, I may say come what may,
I don’t know where I’d be without you
My busy bee, my busy bee
Hey busy bee, I can see you’re in a jail the way you stripe your clothing
You busy bee, can’t help but notice that it’s not the daily drudge you’re loathing
It’s temporary, this load you carry. No need to regret or get up set over a day you know that you will forget
‘cause don’t you know that you’re the one that I adore?
And every time you cry, I only love you more
Though every day, I may say come what may,
I don’t know where I’d be without you
My busy bee, my busy bee

There’s a difference between what I say to you and what I mean.
There’s a difference between being a fool and keeping you guessing.
There is so much you’ll never know unless I permit you.
There are walls of metal, brick, and steel, and stone that you gotta get through.
Oh but wait a moment now..hold on!
Keep on digging, keep on digging, baby, show me what you’re made of
You gotta keep your head up everything is fine
Keep on going, keep on blowing up with that dynamite you’re keep in your pocket
But please, don’t stop it.
There’s a difference between a game of checkers and a game of chess.
There’s a difference between baking a cake and making a big mess.
There is still so much that I have to do before I admit you.
There is little time and much to comprehend before I can kiss you.
Oh but wait a moment more… don’t shut that door!
Keep on digging, keep on digging, baby, show me what you’re made of
You gotta keep your head up everything is fine
Keep on going, keep on blowing up with that dynamite you’re keep in your pocket
But please, don’t stop it.
Don’t give up on what you started on
The ears your words are falling on are everything and anything but deaf.
So before you go and run and hide-believing you’re still mystified,
Step back and just appreciate the whole impression that you make—the smile..
The smile that you been etching on my face—it’s not a race
Keep on digging, keep on digging, and maybe I’ll see what you’re made of
You keep this up, I’ll make you toe the line
Keep on going, keep on blowing up with that dynamite you’re keep in your pocket
But please, don’t stop it.
